TIRANA, March 7/ATA/ Albania's "Butrinti" ship carried out a rescue operation in the Aegean Sea, coming to the aid of a dinghy boat with 32 migrants from Afghanistan on board.

The Navy reported that during patrol in the Aegean Sea in the early hours of this morning, the “Butrinti” ship carried out a search and rescue operation (SAR), coming to the aid of a dinghy boat with 32 migrants from Afghanistan on board. The migrants had departed from Çeşme and had Chios island as a destination.

The Navy/Coast Guard is continuing with dedication its humanitarian mission at sea, the Ministry of Defense said.

Within the last four days, there have been rescued a total of 70 migrants, confirming its commitment and readiness to guarantee safety and save lives in the international waters. /r.e//a.f/p.s./
