ANSA - Six Nations: Italy hang on to beat Wales 22-15

Azzurri prevail with Capuozzo try and Allen's boot

Italy survived a late rally to beat Wales 22-15 in Rome on Saturday and notch their first win of the 2025 Six Nations.
The Azzurri prevailed thanks to a first-half try by star winger Ange Capuozzo and 17 points from the boot of Tommaso Allan.
The home side dealt better with the wet conditions and had looked comfortable until the 70th minute, when they conceded a try by Aaron Wainwright.
They then had a penalty try awarded against them and had prop Marco Riccioni and Dino Lamb yellow carded in the closing stages for repeated infringements in the maul.
But they hung on despite closing the game with 13 players to claim victory in what looks set to have been a decider for who will get the Six Nation's booby prize, the wooden spoon.
It is a second consecutive win for Italy over Wales after they beat them in Cardiff last year.
The Azzurri, who went down 31-19 to Scotland in Edinburgh in their first match of the tournament, are fourth in the table with four points from two games ahead of the rest of the weekend's matches.
It was Wales 14th consecutive defeat.
