TIRANA, February 2/ATA/ Albanian “X ONE” SH.P.K. company has expressed interest and submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy the application for building of a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 54 MW, for the production of electricity from renewable sources.
According to the government report, the plant is not subject to concession and does not benefit from support measures.
The application foresees its construction in the village of “Teman”, in the municipality of Poliçan, Berat.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure received several requests during 2024 to invest in photovoltaic plants.
The climate of Albania offers about 2400 hours of sunshine per year and an average of 240-300 sunny days, as well as considerable wind power on the coast.
To promote the development of this sector, the government has also adopted facilitating policies, such as the exemption from value added tax (VAT) of all machinery and equipment that will be used for the construction of solar and wind energy production projects, for investments that reach a value of 50 million Lekë and more.
According to official data, about 6% of the total energy in the country was produced by solar power plants that are already in production. The largest share is held by the Karavasta Power Plant, which has produced over 50% of the total solar energy. /a.f/p.s./
