ATA - Rama shares highlights of Albania’s “Giro d’Italia 2025” Presentation in Rome

TIRANA, Jan 14 /ATA/- Prime Minister Edi Rama participated on Monday in the event dedicated to the “Giro d’Italia” in Rome, one of the most famous sporting events in the world, where Albania was selected from among many candidates to host the “La Grande Partenza 2025” – the “Grand Start 2025,” which will be broadcast live on over 200 television channels worldwide.

Rama posted moments from the event on social media, highlighting that “Albania was introduced as the destination for this year’s Grand Start of Giro d’Italia, which will be broadcasted on 200 television channels globally, reaching nearly 800 million viewers.”

At this event, with the participation of Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, Prime Minister Rama was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, and the Mayor of Vlorë, Ermal Dredha.

Rama, together with the organizers of “Giro d’Italia,” was invited to the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, one of Europe’s most prestigious centers of art and culture.

The Prime Minister said that the race stages will be breathtaking, showcasing the country’s beautiful landscapes.

“Albania is a blessed country in the sense that, in a small territory, it has been endowed with everything—many mountains, two seas, and numerous rivers. From this perspective, these three stages are spectacular as they highlight a very beautiful part of the country. On the other hand, it’s extraordinary because it’s a way to showcase Albania like a film,” the Prime Minister pointed out. He also emphasized that the interest of Italian tourists in visiting Albania has significantly increased in recent years, with 1.4 million Italian visitors recorded in 2024.

The renowned race, with a 114-year tradition, will bring the world’s top cyclists to Tirana, Durrës, and Vlorë in May, attracting an audience of hundreds of millions.
