A total of 44 new towboats have been registered in Greece between 2021 and 2024, the Greek Tugboat Assocation said on Thursday.
The Association's data was related to a question it tabled with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy.
It added that the number is impressive because it is nearly equivalent to 40% of the entire active fleet of Greek-flagged tugboats, noting that 28 of the 44 tugboats were registered within the last two years.
According to Association President Pavlos Xiradakis, the additions prove that the sector has now irreversibly entered a rising trend of modernization and reform for safe towage services in Greece.
