TIRANA, January 4/ATA/ At Fier Regional Memorial Hospital, there was successfully performed for the first time in the public system an emergency thrombectomy procedure.

Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu wrote about the surgery in the social media.

It was performed thanks to the cooperation of the multidisciplinary team including Dr. Umit Gorgulu, Dr. Klaudio Disha, Dr. Kjanda Elpenoria, Dr. Muhammet Karaca and the collaboration with Dr. Mesut Karatas as well as professional technicians, Tolga Kaya, Halil Ibrahim Ozkan.

“This is one of the life-saving procedures, to remove the blood clot in the brain artery by restoring blood flow and minimizing neurological damage. The implementation of managerial autonomy has expanded the range of services and is guaranteeing the provision of a quality service, from the best professional capacities and advanced medical technology”, said Koçiu.

Fier Regional Memorial Hospital, an investment of the Republic of Turkey, provides tertiary level services for the entire southern region. With a capacity of 150 beds, there is applied for the first time the hospital autonomy model.

Fier Regional Memorial Hospital offers emergency services, surgery, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, pneumology, orthopedics and traumatology services.
