Household consumers and municipalities in the areas where renewable energy sources operate will receive 35 million euros for 2023, the Hellenic Wind Energy Association announced on Tuesday, noting that 82% of this amount, i.e. over 29 million euros, comes from wind farms.
The amounts of the special fee are withheld, by law, automatically from payments to wind farms with the aim of strengthening local municipalities and reducing household consumers' electricity bills and correspond to 3% of the projects' turnover.
Following a recent decision of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, out of the 35 million euros:
* 14.2 million euros are used to reduce the bills of household consumers.
* 21.2 million euros are used to financially support local municipalities.
The distribution of the 14.2 million euros to consumers will begin with the finalization of the list published by the Ministry of Energy and Rural Development. Of these, over 11.6 million euros come from wind farms.
