ATA - Berlin, Muzhaqi: Youth policies enhance their role in decision-making

TIRANA, Oct 13 / ATA/ Minister for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, is attending the Berlin Process Summit, where she joined the panel titled “Youth Perspectives: How to make a difference?” 

This panel was an important part of the Civil Society Forum and the 2024 Brainstorming Lab, which dived deep into the challenges and opportunities faced by youth in the Western Balkans. Participants, including various ministers from the region and well-known young activists, discussed youth policies in the Western Balkans, focusing on the best practices. The panellists said that young people in the region need to strengthen and further consolidate cooperation through regional initiatives in this field. 

In her remarks, Minister Muzhaqi spoke about the efforts made to create more opportunities for Albanian youth, engaging them in decision-making at both local and central government levels. She highlighted various programs for employment through internships and the Youth Guarantee program, as well as fantastic initiatives for the internationalization of universities and the creation of better study opportunities in Albania. 

“We have taken significant steps toward enhancing the role of youth in decision-making because we believe their voices should be heard and translated into real policies that meet their needs,” stated Minister Muzhaqi. 

Another key topic under discussion was the internationalization of Albanian universities, aimed at increasing the attractiveness and adaptability of the educational system for students, as well as creating a better study offer in Albania. These initiatives are essential to ensure that today’s youth have the opportunities and resources needed to live up to their potential within a broader European context. 

During her stay in Berlin, Minister Muzhaqi also had several meetings where she discussed the youth policies that the Albanian government has implemented in this regard and what it aims to achieve through them. 

The Berlin Process Summit provides an important platform for discussing key issues that boost the development of the region and promoting cooperation among the countries of the Western Balkans.
