ALGIERS- The Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAPI) has registered 9684 investment projects, until September 2024, with a financial value of more than DZD 4170 billion, the agency's general manager, Omar Rekkache, said Thursday.

Guest of a national radio programme, Rekkache Said the number of investment projects registered with the agency, until last September, had reached 9684 projects, as a result of the efforts made to "restore investor confidence in the investment climate in Algeria."

About 59 % of the projects are being carried out, he disclosed, adding that the total value of those investments exceeded DZD 4170 billion.

Rekkache said that 660 plots of land were earmarked for investment projects in 47 provinces since last February, noting that "391 concession contracts" had been awarded.

He added that the number of applications for land, as part of the investment projects, had reached 3992.

Rekkache said the agency was responding to the economic ambitions defined by the country's highest authorities, especially the the goal to reach 20,000 investment projects, a figure, he stressed, that "can be achieved by the year 2026," given the degree of adoption of the new investment system by the economic operators and projects holders, and the large number of investors and capital owners involved in investment projects.
