HINA - Croatia's exports up 2.9%, imports up 4.2% in Jan-Aug 2024

ZAGREB, 10. Oct (Hina) - Croatia's commodity exports reached €15.4 billion in the first eight months of 2024, which is an increase of 2.9%, while imports rose by 4.2% to €27.9 billion, according to the initial data from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) published on Wednesday.

The foreign trade deficit was €12.4 billion, and the coverage of imports by exports was 55.4%. In the first eight months of 2023, the coverage ratio was 56.1%.

In January-August 2024, exports to the EU amounted to €10.2 billion, down by 0.1% compared with the same period in 2023, while imports from the EU rose by 8.2% to €21.9 billion.

Exports to non-EU countries increased by 9.4% to €5.2 billion, while imports fell by 8.1% to nearly €6 billion.

Revised data for January-July 2024 shows that exports increased by 4.0% to €13.9 billion and imports by 5.7% to €24.9 billion, with a trade deficit of €11.1 billion and an import-export coverage ratio of 55.7%.
