ALGIERS- Algeria has risen to second place in Africa, according to the latest Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) rankings, with a total of 1404 points.
Eritrea tops the rankings with a commanding lead, boasting an impressive 5,218 points, while in the club standings, Algeria's Madar Pro-Cycling Team currently holds the top spot with 710 points.
Rounding out the top three clubs are Rwanda's Java Inovotec in second place with 242 points, and Egypt's Canal Suez Discovery in third with 63 points.
In the individual athlete rankings, Algeria's top performer is currently Azzedine Lagab, a member of the Madar Pro-Cycling Team, who holds the sixth position.
His compatriot Hamza Yacine, who represented Algeria at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, currently sits in eighth place, with Nassim Saïdi in 15th and Hamza Amari in 20th.
