TIRANA, Sept 12 /ATA/ -A striking large-scale mural painting is being applied to the façade of Albania’s public broadcaster building in tribute to the late the Albanian music diva Vaçe Zela, who passed away on February 6, 2014.
Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media on Wednesday to show ongoing work on creation of the mural by painter Maximiliano Debasko.
“Tirana’s most beautiful mural, which immortalizes the great Albanian singer Vaçe Zela,” Rama said.
The famous international painter Maximiliano Debasko has earlier created a mural paying tribute to the renowned writer Ismail Kadare, and, a year later, a mural featuring the portrait of Lionel Messi, one of the world's best soccer players.
The initiative for this mural is part of the “Mural Fest Tirana”, a project launched by the renowned artist Helidon Haliti.
Haliti told media that the idea to immortalize singer Vaçe Zela through a huge mural was driven by the aspiration to honour one of the icons of the Albanian culture, who has left indelible marks in the country’s music.
Vaçe Zela was an Albanian singer and songwriter and a leading figure in the country’s music. She is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century in Albania.
