ALGIERS-In collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and in partnership with the African Union (AU) Commission and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the “CANEX WKND 2024” event will be held on 16-19 October at the Exhibition Palace (SAFEX) in Algiers, said Sunday a joint communiqué of the Ministries of Trade and Export Promotion, Culture and Arts.
The cultural and tourist event, which precedes the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 and is themed “One People United by Culture in Culture Creating for the World,” is an important event to publicize African creative and cultural industries, encourage talents in various creative fields, promote debate between participants and provide further business opportunities between companies and governments, said the source.
For the Algerian side, this event is organized by the Ministries of Trade and Export Promotion, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports, and Tourism and Handicrafts.
Several events will be held, including exhibitions, roundtables, conferences, training workshops in the fields of music and cinema, arts, art exhibitions and fashion shows. The agenda of “CANEX WKND” comprises sports activities and visits to archaeological and tourist sites, said the statement.
In addition to the CANEX Prize for Publishing in Africa celebrating literary excellence in Africa, a “CANEX Shorts Prize” award ceremony will also take place under the event, said the source.
Moreover, the “CANEX Fashion Show” will be held, in parallel with business exhibition fairs for companies, trademarks and caritative organizations, in addition to a culinary showcase.
A website has been created for his event “www.canex.africa” so that interested people can register and confirm their participation.
