BLIDA - Novo Nordisk Algeria will begin exporting modern insulin pens to Africa beginning this September, as per a press release issued by the company on Sunday.
“The production site of modern insulin pens of Novo Nordisk Algeria will export these pens to Africa starting from this September 2024,” the press release said.
According to the same source, the Director General of Novo Nordisk Algeria, Hamza Benharkat, underscored Novo Nordisk Algeria’s priority to “take advantage of its current manufacturing facilities to ensure a steady supply of innovative medicines for Algerian patients.”
He also reiterated the company’s commitment to “leverage all its production capacities.” It should be noted that Novo Nordisk Algeria has two production sites, one in Tizi-Ouzou and the other in Boufarik, Blida.
At the end of last April, the Boufarik production site, specialized in the production of modern insulin pens, launched its first export operation of insulin pens to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This operation, carried out in three stages, included 2.5 million insulin pens, with an estimated turnover of 11 million Euros.
Entering production in 2006, the Tizi-Ouzou unit carried out its first export operation of Metformin to Libya in November 2023. This unit, specialized in producing Metformin, meets 50% of the national demand in this field, according to the same source.
