ALGIERS- The World Bank (WB)'s Resident Representative for Algeria," Kamel Braham, stressed Sunday, in Algiers, Algeria's buoyant economy, which has managed to maintain growth at an average rate of 4% despite a difficult global environment.
"Over the past few years, the Algerian economy has recorded a growth rate of nearly four percent, in a global environment where countries were struggling to achieve positive growth," Braham told El Moudjahid newspaper's forum.
According to the representative of the World Bank, it is a "performance achieved mainly through the dynamism of the Algerian economy."
"The period marked by the Covid-19 had stimulated the Algerian economy, with the industry developing to meet the domestic demand, unlike other countries that found it difficult to resume growth," Braham said, adding that the Algerian economy had already returned to its pre-Covid-19 level in 2022.
The World Bank's Resident Representative for Algeria commended Algeria's efforts in this respect, citing a "stringent financial policy leading to the management of public resources, maintaining consumer spending and mobilising funding for public investment."
