APS - Algeria’s economic performance, recognized success model

ALGIERS- The World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Osmane Dione, praised Algeria’s economic performances which enabled an upward reclassification by the bank, qualifying it as “a success model” recognized worldwide, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday in a press release.

 

Dione made a speech in an audience with the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, said the source, adding that “this meeting is an opportunity to exchange both parties’ visions on economic development in a global context characterized by multifaceted crises".

 

 In this respect, Dione congratulated Algeria on “the performances it achieved and recognized by the international development community”, and which recently allowed an upward reclassification of Algeria's position, describing them “as a success model worthy of sharing with other countries in Africa and the MENA region'."

 

 Dione highlighted on this occasion “Algeria’s potential as a significant player in the MENA region thanks to its geopolitical stability, economic dynamic, human resources and youths, geographic position, regional connectivity, as well as its potential as a logistic hub and its access to the European, African and Arab market,” said the press release.

 

 With regard to Algeria's cooperation with the WB, Dione expressed “his firm commitment to giving a fresh impetus to this relation and to respond to Faid's calls for enhanced collaboration, notably in knowledge sharing, capacity building, and technical support."

 

 He also expressed his institution's willingness to broaden and deepen this partnership with Algeria, by making good use of its wide range of technical support tools and advice, while aligning with national priorities.
