ZAGREB, 8 March(Hina) - The Croatian Firefighting Community (HVZ), which is the central state directorate responsible for firefighting activities, said on Friday, International Women's day, that women account for 25% of firefighting units and societies countrywide.
According to the data provided by the directorate, the highest share of women among firefighters is in Sisak-Moslavina County, where one in three firefighters are women (34%), as well as in Međimurje County (33%).
When it comes to firefighting volunteers, 10% of operatives are women.
The HVZ directorate says that the number of women in Croatia's firefighting system is increasing, while prejudices are decreasing.
