Attica region governor Giorgos Patoulis has switched on the lights on the regional authority's Christmas Tree at Pedion tou Areos park in Athens. The ceremony was held on Monday evening, at Santa's Christmas village set up in the same location, where a series of events will take place that will be broadcast via youtube on the Attica region's channel. The areas has been cordoned off due to the pandemic and all protection measures are applied. "The symbolic lighting of the Christmas Tree here at Pedion tou Areos is held with aim to send a message of optimism to the citizens, who are obliged to limit their movements to a minimum," stated Patoulis.
