Istat said Monday that Italy's GDP grew by 0.2% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous three months and by 1.0% compared with the equivalent period last year, confirming the provisional data given on September 1.
The national statistics agency said the calender adjusted carry-over effect for 2026 stands at 0.8%.
"Compared with the previous quarter, on the demand side, both final national consumption and gross fixed capital formation grew by 0.2%," Istat said.
"Imports increased by 1.5% and exports by 1.0%.
"Domestic demand net of inventories made a positive overall contribution of 0.2 percentage points to GDP growth, entirely attributable to the performance of final consumption expenditure of households and non profit institutions serving households.
"Changes in inventories also made a positive contribution of 0.1 percentage points, offset by an equally large negative contribution from net foreign demand.
"On the supply side, value added declined quarter on quarter in agriculture, forestry and fishing and in industry, by 0.1% and 0.6%, respectively, while services grew by 0.4%".
