TIRANA, Sept. 26 /ATA/ – Albania has recorded the world’s largest improvement in the Travel & Tourism Development Index 2026, climbing to 53rd place globally, up 10 positions from its 2024 ranking.

The figures were released by the Agency for Media and Information, citing the latest World Economic Forum report, which assessed 110 economies and ranked Albania among the strongest improvers in tourism development.

According to the report, Albania registered a 7% increase in its tourism development score, reflecting progress in key areas including tourism infrastructure, service quality, air connectivity, and road and port infrastructure.

The improvement is seen as evidence of Albania’s growing competitiveness as a tourism destination and the increasing importance of the sector within the national economy.

The report highlights advances in factors that influence destination competitiveness, ranging from accessibility and transport networks to the quality of tourism services.

Albania’s rise in the global rankings also underscores the expanding role of tourism as a driver of economic growth and points to further potential for strengthening the country’s position in the international tourism market.
