Jane Fonda and Gisèlle Pelicot are among the recipients of the 17th Diane von Furstenberg awards at this year's Venice Film Festival.
    Actress and activist Fonda; Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley; photojournalist Lynsey Addario; Food4Education Founder and CEO Wawira Njiru; and multiple rape survivor, author and activist Pelicot are the winners of the "DVF Awards," promoted by 79-year-old fashion designer von Furstenberg to recognize women global leaders, activists, artists, and changemakers of extraordinary talent.
    The awards ceremony will be held in Venice on September 3.
    Over the years, the DVF Awards have given voice and visibility to women from more than thirty countries, supporting their work through financial contributions to promote initiatives in a variety of fields, from the fight against climate change and human trafficking, to the promotion of gender equality and the prevention of violence against women.
    The five winners of the 2026 DVF Awards, a statement emphasizes, "represent extraordinary examples of people capable of transforming their beliefs into action and generating concrete change.
    From environmental protection to political leadership, from frontline journalism to commitment to nutrition and education, to the defense of the dignity and rights of victims of violence, the work of the five winners testifies to the extraordinary strength and variety of impact women can have when they turn determination into action."
