Italy's teams at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris and the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham continued to reap glory on Tuesday, bagging six more medals, including three golds.
    In the pool, Rome native Simona Quadarella smashed the field to win her fourth consecutive title in the women's 800-meter freestyle, while Nicolò Martinenghi took gold and Simone Cerasuolo grabbed bronze in the men's 100-meter breaststroke.
    Sara Curtis, meanwhile, won the bronze medal in the women's 100-meter freestyle.
    In Birmingham Nadia Battocletti eased home to defend her title in the women's 5,000m, with her team mate Micol Majori coming third to join her on the podium.
    But there was disappointment for Italy's Tokyo Olympics sprint champ Marcell Jacobs, who pulled up hurt during the final of the 100 metres and only managed to finish seventh.
    Italy is top of the medals table of the Aquatics Euros with 28 medals so far, including nine golds.
    Italy ended day two of the European Athletics Championships second in the medals table with four, including two golds, after Leo Fabbri led an Italian one-two in the shot put on Monday ahead of his team mate Zane Weir.
