The average APR interest rate Italian banks put on new mortgages rose to 3.96% in May, up from 3.91% in April, the Bank of Italy said on Thursday.
The central bank said the average APR for consumer credit fell slightly to 10.37% from 10.41% the previous month.
It said the interest rate on loans to non-financial enterprises rose to 3.67% from 3.56% in April.
It said the interest rate on deposits was 0.65%, the same as the previous month.
The data refers to a period before the European Central Bank (ECB) raised its interest rates by 25 basis points at its June 2026 meeting.
