ANSA - Non-EU nationals account for one in seven of Italy's workers - INPS

Number has risen by 35% since 2019 says pensions and social security agency

The number of non-EU nationals working in Italy grew by more than 35% between 2019 and 2025 and they now account for one-seventh of the nation's work force, INPS President Gabriele Fava said as he presented the social-security-and-pensions agency's 25th annual report at the Lower House on Thursday.
"Setting aside ideological divisions, this is a statistic that must be taken seriously," Fava said.
"It highlights how a growing proportion of the country's productive capacity and tax base depends on the ability to manage migration flows, directing them toward the needs of the productive system and supporting them with pathways to training, legality, integration, and regular employment," he added, speaking of the need for "a pact of coexistence and responsibility".
