APS - Mousserati receives IMF delegation

ALGIERS - President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating of Corruption Salima Mousserati received a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday.

According to an authority statement, the meeting takes place within the framework of the periodic consultations conducted by the IMF with Algeria under Article IV of its Articles of Agreement.

The statement noted that the meeting, held on Sunday evening in the presence of members of the High Authority’s Council and its senior officials, provided an opportunity to review the reforms undertaken by Algeria under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to promote transparency and good governance, and prevent corruption.

In this regard, the statement stressed the President of the Republic’s commitment to "promoting integrity in public life, combating corruption, and aligning the national legislative framework with international standards, particularly through the establishment of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating of Corruption, as well as the launch of numerous initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of integrity and reinforcing the national anti-corruption framework." During the meeting, Mousserati presented "an overview of the High Authority’s functions and responsibilities, as well as the main programs and projects it oversees, foremost among them the National Strategy for Transparency, Prevention and Combating of Corruption, the ‘Nazaha’ Efficiency Index, the draft regulatory text on transparency systems, the asset declaration process and its processing, mechanisms for reporting and notifying suspected corruption, and the High Authority's digital transformation efforts through the development of its electronic platforms." She also highlighted the Authority’s programs in "the field of awareness-raising, training, and support for government ministries, public institutions, and civil society.

Mousserati further presented the preliminary results achieved across several ministries and institutions through these efforts, including the promotion of a culture of corruption prevention, the strengthening of compliance and transparency mechanisms, and improvements in institutional performance, all of which contribute to establishing the principles of good governance and enhancing the quality of public services." The members of the IMF delegation were briefed on "Algeria’s experience in developing its national anti-corruption framework." They also exchanged views with officials from the High Authority on "oversight mechanisms, the promotion of transparency and the prevention of corruption, and the Authority’s role in supporting institutional reforms aimed at promoting good governance and improving public sector performance," according to the statement
