APS - Chaib chairs coordination meeting with Northern Europe consular heads

BRUSSELS - The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, chaired a working and coordination meeting on Tuesday at the Algerian Embassy in Brussels with the heads of consular posts for the Northern Europe region. The meeting took place as part of his working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, according to a statement from the ministry.

This session is part of a series of regular coordination and guidance meetings the Secretary of State holds with heads of diplomatic missions and consular posts abroad. These initiatives align with directives from the country’s highest authorities, which are aimed at improving the quality of services provided to the diaspora and strengthening mechanisms to address their concerns and expectations.

The discussions focused on reviewing consular activity reports and assessing progress in modernizing services. Key priorities highlighted included the broader adoption of digitalization, the simplification of administrative procedures, and the enhancement of reception conditions for citizens.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to assess measures adopted for the national community living in Northern European countries. Participants emphasized strengthening outreach, stepping up communication initiatives, and developing better support mechanisms to consolidate ties between community members and their homeland, while enhancing their contribution to national development efforts.

Additionally, preparations for the upcoming summer season were discussed. Chaib instructed that information and guidance systems for the national community be reinforced and that coordination with various stakeholders be enhanced to ensure optimal reception and travel conditions to Algeria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Chaib praised the dedication of the consular heads and staff, urging them to "continue working with responsibility and commitment to provide better services to the diaspora and to implement the directives of the country’s highest authorities."
