NNA - The Municipality of Amioun announced that the town welcomed a notable official visit by Maria Hadjitheodosiou, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, and her accompanying delegation, as part of efforts to strengthen cultural, historical, and shared ties between the two countries.

The ambassador was accompanied by Archimandrite Professor Yaacoub Khalil, Dean of the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology at the University of Balamand. They were received by Amioun Mayor Malek Fares and members of the municipal council.

During her visit, Ambassador Hadjitheodosiou toured several historical and heritage landmarks in Amioun and visited the Cypriot memorial plaque commemorating the former presence of the Cypriot army in the area.

The Municipality of Amioun expressed its sincere gratitude to the parish of Saint Marina Church, its priest, council, and parishioners, for their warm welcome and excellent organization of the visit, which it said reflected the town’s hospitable and civilized character. The parish presented the ambassador with an icon of Saint Marina as a blessing and a token of appreciation for her visit.
