TIRANA, May 16  /ATA/ Albania’s National Theatre production of Othello has been hailed as one of the season’s successes, drawing strong interest from art lovers and the wider public. Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja shared images from the performance and the audience on social media, describing the production as one of the most important events of the artistic season.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said one of William Shakespeare’s most powerful tragedies, Othello, is being staged at ArTurbina under the direction of Qëndrim Rijani, presenting a contemporary interpretation of power, jealousy, love and manipulation.

The production is staged with Fan Noli’s renowned translation and features a wide cast of distinguished Albanian theatre actors. Leading roles are performed by Arben Derhemi, Lulzim Zeqja, Linda Jarani, Donald Shehu, Luli Bitri and Viktor Zhusti, together with other established artists of the stage.

Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said Othello is regarded as an important production that enriches Albania’s artistic and theatrical life, offering a contemporary interpretation of one of the greatest works of world dramaturgy.
