Stand-up comedy is a performing art where a comedian delivers humorous stories and anecdotes to a live audience.
Although stand-up comedy may sound spontaneous, it is typically well-rehearsed. Comedians use a combination of brief jokes, storytelling, observational humour, impersonations, props, and gestures to entertain, often interacting with the audience through crowd work and adjusting their performance in response to reactions. Key elements such as timing, delivery, and stage presence are vital, as the effectiveness of a joke depends on how well the comedian connects with the audience.
