Italy's last two representatives are out of Europe at the quarter-final stage as Bologna were thrashed by Aston Villa in the Europa League and Fiorentina fell to Crystal Palace in the Conference League.
The Emilians lost 4-0 at Villa Park for a 7-1 aggregate loss to the former European champions while the Viola won 2-1 at home following their 3-0 defeat in London last week for a 4-2 aggregate defeat.
Bologna and Fiorentina were Italy's only survivors in European competition this season after the nation's last remaining team in the Champions League, Atalanta, lost 4-1 at Bayern Munich to crash out 10-2 on aggregate.
They followed Inter, Napoli and Juventus to the UCL exit.
