Aglobal recession is certain if there are no negotiations to halt the Iran war and free up the Persian Gulf's key oil choke hold the Strait of Hormuz, Italian industrial employers federation Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini said Thursday.
    Orsini said he hopes that negotiations will soon be reached that will end the war in the Gulf between the United States and Iran.
    "If we continue with the conflict," he warned on the sidelines of the conference in Genoa on the maritime economy, commenting on the IMF's recent warning, "we will certainly enter a recession." The Confindustria Research Center said the same almost three weeks ago.
    Orsini said "if the war ends quickly, we are looking at a 0.5% increase in Italian GDP in 2026.
    "If we get to four months into the war, we are at zero, stagnation, and it's logical that if the conflict continues, it will become a (bigger) problem."
