HINA - Over 60 museums to participate in 31st Educational Museum Action under theme "Roots"

ZAGREB, 14 April (Hina) - More than 60 museums across Croatia will take part in the 31st Educational Museum Action (EMA), held from 18 April to 18 May under the theme “Roots”, and the programme, free of charge and designed for all ages, was announced at a press conference.

Vlasta Krklec, president of the Croatian Museum Association (HMD), highlighted the importance of educational programmes in conveying museum messages to audiences of all generations and invited the public to attend in large numbers.

Lucija Sekula, coordinator of the Association’s Museum Education and Cultural Action Section, noted that EMA had grown from modest beginnings into a national event. Originally aimed at younger audiences, it now offers a wide range of activities for all age groups, with the goal of making culture accessible to everyone.

The theme “Roots”, inspired by the life and work of Ivan Meštrović, reflects the integration of tradition and heritage into modern art, explained this year’s EMA coordinator Iris Marinović. She announced that the closing ceremony will be hosted by the Ivan Meštrović Museums, including the Meštrović Gallery in Split and Meštrović’s Otavice.

Participating museums will interpret the theme in diverse ways, from the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla exploring roots through artificial intelligence, to the Croatian National Bank’s Money Museum Moneterra examining monetary history, as well as others.

The event coincides with International Museum Day on 18 May, with a month-long programme of workshops, guided tours and presentations.
