NNA - The Ministry of Culture – Directorate General of Antiquities announced in a statement that it has submitted an "urgent complaint to UNESCO, requesting its immediate and swift intervention to protect the archaeological site of Chamaa Castle in southern Lebanon, following reports that Israeli enemy forces are destroying the castle site, which was included on the Enhanced Protection List in 2024 under Protocol II of the 1954 Hague Convention. It is worth noting that the Chamaa Castle site had previously been attacked by the Israeli army in 2024."
It added: "As for the circulating reports بشأن damages at the Tyre site, this news is false."
The Ministry of Culture emphasized to all parties and media outlets the need to "ensure accuracy in conveying information and to refrain from publishing any news before referring to officially approved sources, in order to preserve credibility and objectivity."
