The government on Friday approved a new fuel decree amid the Iran war, extending a 25-cent-per-litre excise duty cut until May 1.
Economy Minister Giancarlo Minister Giorgetti said: "The tax cut already adopted for fishing has been extended to agricultural businesses." He said that €500 million has been allocated to cover the extension.
Regarding the possibility of exceeding the 3% European Union-mandated deficit limit due to the energy crisis caused by the war in Iran, "if the situation does not change, it will be inevitable," Giorgetti said.
The government had initially introduced the excise cut for 20 days two weeks ago.
