ANSA - Skiing: Pirovano, Goggia wrap up World Cup titles in style

Dominik Paris completes downhill-Super-G double at Lillehammer

Laura Pirovano won the downhill at Lillehammer on Saturday while Sofia Goggia triumphed in the Super-G on Sunday as Italian women wrapped up the World Cup titles in the respective disciplines in style.
Pirovano, 28, exploded onto the scene by taking first two World Cup victories ever earlier this month and she made it a hat-trick in Norway on Saturday.
She had never made a World Cup podium before this month and her best previous position at the end of the season was sixth.
For Goggia, 33, it was her first SuperG World Cup title to add to the four downhill World Cup titles she claimed in 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Sunday's was the 29th World Cup victory of her career and her 10th in the SuperG.
Her trophy cabinet also includes three downhill Olympic medals, gold in 2018, silver in 2022 and bronze at Milano Cortina 2026 last month.
In the men's World Cup, veteran Dominik Paris made the weekend even more special for Italian Alpine skiing, winning the downhill on Saturday and the Super-G on Sunday.
