ANSA - Como co-owner Michael Bambang Hartono dies aged 86

Indonesian tobacco billionaire and brother took over club in 2019

Indonesian tobacco billionaire Michael Bambang Hartono, the co-owner of the Como1907 soccer club along with his brother Robert Budi Hartono, has died at the age of 86, sources said on Thursday.
    The club, whose home ground nestles next to Lake Como, have climbed up from the third tier of Italian soccer to Serie A since the Hartonos took over in 2019 and this season they are pushing to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League.

 

The combined net worth of the two brothers, owners of the Djarum tobacco giant, amounts to over $43 billion.
    Como is run by Chairman Mirwan Suwarso, an Indonesian manager, with former Spain, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas in charge of the team as coach.
