Istat said Tuesday that Italian exports increased by 4.9% in December with respect to the same month in 2024, while imports rose by 3.4%.
The national statistics agency said outgoing flows grew by 4.7% for EU countries and by 5.1% for non-EU countries, while incoming flows increased 7.1% from EU area but declined 1.1% from the non-EU area.
It said exports were up 0.3% in December compared to November while and imports rose 0.1% in month-on-month terms, according to seasonally adjusted data.
Istat said Italy had a trade surplus of 6.037 billion euros in December, a figure which rose to 9.792 billion excluding energy.
Italy's trade balance surplus for 2025 as a whole was 50.746 billion euros, up from a surplus of 48.287 billion euros in 2024
