Pieter Mulier has been appointed the new Chief Creative Officer of Versace, the fashion house's Executive Chairman Lorenzo Bertelli announced on Thursday.
The Belgian, who is currently the creative director of Alaïa, replaces Dario Vitale, who quit in December less than a year after coming in when Donatella Versace stepped down and just days after Prada's acquisition of the brand was finalized.
Mulier will take over the role on July 1.
"While we considered the acquisition of Versace,we identified Pieter Mulier as the right person for the role of designer for the brand," Bertelli said.
"We are confident that he will be able to fully express Versace's potential and establish a deep dialogue with the brand's distinctive history and aesthetic".
