ANSA - Milano Cortina: 100% of unconsumed Olympic food will be reused

Agreement to donate food to associations that distribute it to needy

All is the food that prepared for athletes, staff and the public at the Milano Cortina 2026 and is not consumed is set to be reused thanks to an agreement between the organizers of the Winter Olympics and associations that distribute leftover produce to the needy.
The commitment to make sure no food is wasted was part to the winning bid to host the Games and it is being put into practice via agreements between the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation with Banco Alimentare Ets Foundation for the Olympic venues in Lombardy and Veneto and with the TrentinoSolidale Odv association for those in Trentino's Fiemme Valley.
"We are very grateful to Banco Alimentare and TrentinoSolidale Odv for their collaboration, which cements our commitment to greater sustainability for the event," Gloria Zavatta, the sustainability & impact director of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, said in a statement.
"Engagement with the local communities in the areas involved in the Games, where non-profit organizations and public partners have been working together for years to develop diversified solutions tailored to the specific needs of each situation, was also crucial".
