Lusa - Business News - Portugal: EDP Renováveis completes sale of Canada windfarm

Lisbon,April.19,2024(Lusa)-EDP Renováveis has finalised an agreement with CC&L Infrastructure for the sale of an 80% stake in a 297 megawatt (MW) wind project in Alberta, Canada, for an implied value of around €478 million.
According to a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) on Thursday evening, "with the completion of this transaction, EDPR has executed approximately 35% of the €7 billion related to the asset rotation programme for the period 2023-2026, announced at EDP's Capital Markets Day in March 2023, allowing EDP to accelerate value creation and recycle capital to reinvest in profitable growth."
The sale was finalised with an implied value of CAN$700 million (around €478 million).
This is EDP Renováveis' second transaction with that company, following the sale of a 560 MW portfolio of wind and solar assets in the United States of America.
On 14 February, EDP Renováveis announced that it had signed a sale and purchase agreement with Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure (CC&L Infrastructure) for the sale of 80% of a wind project in Canada for around CAN$600 million (€400 million).
According to the information released at the time, EDP Renováveis will retain a minority stake in the project and will continue to operate and manage the asset.
