Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark up 0.16%, BCP leading gainer

Lisbon,April.17,2024(Lusa)-The Lisbon stock market closed positive on Wednesday,with the PSI index rising 0.16% to 6,234.41 points and BCP leading the gains by advancing almost 2%.
Of the 16 shares that are included in the benchmark PSI (Portguese Stock Index), eight were up, seven were down and one was unchanged. BCP rose 1.97% to €0.30 and, in the opposite direction, Jerónimo Martins finished top of the declines and lost 1.39% to €17.72.
The biggest risers were Mota-Engil (1.48 % to €4.24) and CTT (1.37 % to €4.45).
With gains of less than 1% were Navigator (€3.95), REN (€2.20), Galp (€16.10), Altri (€4.99) and Semapa (€15.06).
On the downside, Sonae fell 1.24% to €0.87, EDP Renováveis dropped 0.31% to €12.79 and Ibersol fell 0.29% to €6.98.
Sonae, through its subsidiary Sparkfood, which invests in healthy and sustainable food companies, finalised the acquisition of 89.1% of the French company Diorren, which owns BCF Life Sciences, for €160.5 million.
In a note published on Tuesday by the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Sonae indicated that its subsidiary Sparkfood "today concluded the acquisition of an 89.1% stake in Diorren SAS, the company that owns BCF Life Sciences (BCF), for a total consideration of €160.5 million".
In the same vein, EDP lost 0.25% to €3.59, NOS fell 0.14% to €3.59 and Greenvolt dropped 0.12% to €8.30.
The main European stock markets also ended in the green, with Madrid up 1.02%, Milan 0.72%, Paris 0.62%, London 0.35% and Frankfurt advancing just 0.02%.
