Lisbon,18.Jan.2022(Lusa)-The public tender for the allocation of the injection point into the national grid at the Pego thermoelectric power plant in central Portugal has received six proposals from companies based in the country and abroad, the government has announced.
In a statement, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action said that "the public tender for the attribution of the injection point in the Public Service Electrical Network (RESP) of the Pego Thermoelectric Power Plant, in Abrantes, received six proposals: Tejo Energia SA, EDPR SGPS, GreenVolt, Endesa SA, Brookfield Ltd & Bondalti SA and Voltalia SA".
The deadline for the public tender launched by the government for the attribution of the connection point to the grid of the Pego plant was one minute before midnight on Monday, having been open to applications for almost four months.
The end of coal-fired power generation at the Tejo Energia-owned plant had been officially scheduled for 30 November last year, but after the company exhausted its coal stocks on 19 November, the plant was not fired up again.
The government initiated a public tender process for the allocation of the grid connection point, with the period for receiving applications starting on 20 September.
