Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Last 24 hours with 34 deaths, 394 cases of new coronavirus

Lisbon, Mar.1,2021(Lusa)-Portugal on Monday recorded 34 deaths related to Covid-19 and 394 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, the lowest number of cases since September, according to the country's national health authority, the DGS.
The DGS bulletin showed that 2,167 patients are hospitalised (two more than on Sunday), 469 of whom are in intensive care, 15 less.
The data released on Monday showed that 1,258 people have been reported recovered, bringing to 720,235 the total number of recovered since the start of the pandemic in Portugal in March 2020.
For 29 consecutive days, the number of recoveries has exceeded the number of new infections.
Active cases in Portugal continue to see a decrease, with 68,370 active cases today, down 898.
Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,351 Covid-19-associated deaths and 804,956 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection.
Health authorities have 41,227 contacts under surveillance, down 4,187 from the previous day, with the downward trend continuing since 30 January.
According to the latest data from DGS, Portugal currently has 868,951 people vaccinated: 603,585 with the first dose and 265,366 with the second dose.
Of the 34 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 15 occurred in Lisbon and Tagus Valley, 10 in the Centre region and nine in the North region.
In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 238 new infections were reported, with a total of 304,772 cases and 6,846 deaths so far.
According to the bulletin, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region accounts for 60.4% of the cases registered in the last 24 hours and 44.2% of the total number of deaths.
The Northern region now has 74 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 and since the start of the pandemic has recorded 326,378 cases of infection and 5,215 deaths.
In the Centre region, 27 more cases have been registered, accumulating 114,984 infections and 2,915 deaths.
In the Alentejo, 15 more cases have been reported, totalling 28,474 infections and 947 deaths since the start of the pandemic in Portugal.
The Algarve region has 12 new cases reported today, adding 20,110 infections and 339 deaths.
Madeira registered 16 new cases. This autonomous region accounts for 6,474 infections and 61 deaths due to Covid-19.
The Azores registered 12 new cases in the last 24 hours and notified of a total of 3,764 infections and 28 deaths.
The confirmed cases are spread across all age groups, with the highest number of infections registered between 20 and 59 years old.
The new coronavirus has already infected at least 364,133 men and 440,553 women in Portugal, according to data from the DGS. There are also 270 cases of unknown gender under investigation, as these data are not provided automatically.
Of the total number of deaths, 8,551 were men and 7,800 women.
The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.
Of the total deaths, 10,837 were people aged over 80 years, 3,440 were aged between 70 and 79 years and 1,444 were aged between 60 and 69 years.
