Lusa - Business News - Mozambique: United Kingdom plans to invest €51M in agro-industry
Maputo, Nov.20,2020(Lusa)-The United Kingdom plans to invest a total of £46 million (€51 million) in the agro-industrial sector in Mozambique, Queen Elisabeth's Assistant Trade Commissioner for Africa said on Friday. "It was great to see that trade between Mozambique and the UK increased 45% last year and that the UK-Africa Investment Summit catalysed £46 million of new private investment in the agro-industrial sector," said Alastair Long, cited by Mozambique's Information Agency (AIM). He was speaking during a virtual meeting with officials from the Mozambican government. According to figures from the meeting, trade ties between the UK and Mozambique totalled £538 million (€601 million) in 2019, an increase of 45% compared to the previous year. "All this is the result of the commitment by both governments to promote partnerships," said Alastair Long, adding that it is in their interest to see more UK companies investing in Mozambique.
