Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Fintech 'CodingLibra' launches first digital blockchain vault in country

Lisbon, Sept. 23, 2020 (Lusa) – Portuguese fintech CodingLibra has launched CryptoFortis, the first Digital Blockchain vault in Portugal, and is focusing on the global market for cryptocurrencies which could grow between 25% and 30% in the next five years.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, Jaime Ferreira, one of the company's two co-founders - the other is Artur Goulão Ferreira - said he was confident about the growth potential of the cryptocurrency market despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
"It is a market that will facilitate the corridors of payments and remittances and there are estimates from consulting houses that point us to growth in the order of 25% to 30% annually in the next five to six years".
In addition, the company expects to recover the invested capital already in 2023 and grow faster than the global sector, in the order of 100% in 2022 and 2023, respectively, stabilizing the annual growth rate at 50%, in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
For the two co-founders of CodingLibra it would be inconceivable that in Portugal there would not be a company that was in the Blockchain revolution, which "is about to happen, is disruptive and will be very fast.
"We're predicting that the fact that Big Tech, namely Facebook and Google Play, are looking at this market is going to make it much easier for them to adopt," said Jorge Ferreira, managing partner of CodingLibra.
Founded this year, CodingLibra is a Blockchain fintech specializing in software development, integration, custody, liquidity and regulation for digital assets such as cryptomaps, Stablecoins (cryptomaps whose value is more stable than Bitcoin) and other decentralized digital financial assets (DeFi).
The company intends to place digital safes in Portugal, Europe and emerging countries and "lead the Blockchain revolution".
"Beyond the technological advances, long necessary and indispensable, in the traditional banking sector, more visible with the appearance of several fintech and neobank, the adoption of corporate cryptomaps, and also of consumption, will have a significant impact in the life of all of us", underlines Jaime Ferreira.
"For emerging countries the potential is even greater, since this will be the most viable option for capital transaction".
The security issue is guaranteed by the use of Blockchain technology, managed by the CodingLibra team, where the registered information is encrypted, requires a digital signature and still confirmed by the validation of distributed participants - the miners (set of computers with special program) - which together guarantee the integrity and protection against possible threats.
For Artur Goulão, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the company, "the current Stablecoins are increasingly used as a means of exchange for entry into a given market, investments, for storage and to facilitate transactions between the digital and physical world.
"I have no doubt that the greatest adoption of this technology will take place in the near future and we want to boost this new wave of Blockchain in several companies", he stressed to Lusa.
The digital safe is a basic solution to use and to keep cryptocurrency, although the company is very focused on Stablecoins.
Besides Portugal, the company wants to activate services in emerging countries where the existing solutions, and sometimes informal, are expensive, unsafe and time consuming.
These are payments and especially international remittances from immigrants to their countries of origin, such as Senegal, Ghana, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico.
What happens is that these remittances have several corridors, such as traditional banks, currency exchange offices and other forms of transfer, but the two co-founders believe that the main corridor will be from "smartphone to smartphone," that is, an immediate transfer at very low cost and that it is "exactly the solution to the current problems.
In essence, what CodingLibra wants is to make this ecosystem work and it will only work if it has a safe for clients to store cryptocurrency safely.
