Lusa - Business News - Angola: Business investment agency contracts Bloomberg to help promote

Luanda, Aug. 6,2020 (Lusa)– Angola has signed a service contract with Bloomberg to promote investment among clients of the multinational, as part of its economic diplomacy to mobilize international investors, it was announced on Thursday.
According to the chairman of the board of the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), António Henriques da Silva, the two-year contract, signed between AIPEX and Bloomberg, is already being implemented.
The official who was speaking today in Luanda at the opening of a seminar on Mutual Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (APPRI) said the contract is part of the process of implementing the Private Investment Fundraising Project For the president of the Angolan Private Investment Agency, one of the legal instruments to give confidence to international investors is the celebration of APPRI between capital exporting and importing countries.
Investment promotion and reciprocal protection agreements are bilateral instruments that contain binding measures aimed at creating more favorable conditions for investors from one of the signatory states to make investments in the territory of the other.
The regime of reciprocity is one of the prerequisites of these agreements.
Allowing the start of a permanent debate on the conclusion of APPRI is the basic foundation of the seminar, considering that foreign investment has advantages and disadvantages, especially for the recipient country.
The entry of foreign exchange, the transfer of knowledge, job creation and increasing the level of competitiveness of local businesses are among the advantages.
"However, foreign investment can also have disadvantages if the receiving country fails to establish objectives and strategies capable of reducing as much as possible factors harmful to sovereignty and security".
Technicians from AIPEX, the Angolan parliament, the ministries of Economy and Planning, Industry and Commerce, Foreign Relations, among others, participate in the meeting, some by videoconference.
