ATA - Ministry of Health: 74 new Covid-19 cases and 2 fatalities

TIRANA,July 7/ATA/In the past 24hours, 409 tests have been performed on cases suspected of COVID-19 with 74 cases confirmed positive, the Albania’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported.

Dr. Rovena Daja from the Institute of Public Health said that, “the geographical spread of those tested positive in the last 24 hours is as follows: 37 cases in Tirana, 10 cases in Durrës, 5 cases in Shkodra, 3 cases in Korça, 3 cases in Kavaja, 2 cases in Fier, 2 cases in Lushnja, 2 cases in Mirdita, and 1 case in Elbasan, 1 case in Puka, 1 case in Berat, 1 case in Kamza, 1 case in Gjirokastra, 1 case in Pogradec, 1 case in Saranda , 1 case in Vau i Dejës, 1 case in Dibra and 1 case in Malësi e Madhe.”

“A 45-year-old patient from Berat and a 82-year-old patient from Kruja died at the infectious diseases hospital. Despite intensive treatment and the efforts of the medical staff they failed to survive,” Dr. Rovena Daja from the Institute of Public Health said.

“Currently, 81 patients are receiving treatment in the infectious diseases hospital, 7 of them are in intensive care and 2 patients is intubated,” she said.

“In the last 24 hours 42 citizens affected by Covid-19 have recovered bringing the number of recovered people to 1744 since the beginning of the epidemic,” Daja said.

“There are currently 1213 confirmed active COVID-19 cases mainly in Tirana, Shkodra and Durrës,” she added. //a.i/
