APS - Covid 19: les Jeux méditerranéens 2021 d'Oran reportés à 2022




APS-ALGER-La 19e édition des Jeux méditerranéens(JM-2021), initialement prévue du 25 juin au 5 juillet 2021 à Oran, a été reportée à 2022, à la demande du Conseil international des Jeux méditerranéens, en raison de la situation actuelle marquée par la propagation de la pandémie du coronavirus (COVID-19), a annoncé mardi à l'APS le ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports, Sid Ali Khaldi.

"Le gouvernement algérien et le Comité international des Jeux méditerranéens (CIJM) ont pris la décision commune de reporter, d'une année, les Jeux méditerranéens d'Oran qui se tiendront désormais en l'an 2022, à la demande du CIJM", a déclaré à Alger Sid Ali Khaldi, accompagné de l'Algérien Amar Addadi, président du CIJM.

Pour le ministre, cette décision a été prise par les deux parties après consultation et évaluation exhaustive du contexte prévalant actuellement dans le monde, marqué par la propagation de la pandémie du COVID-19 qui a conduit au report de nombreuses manifestations et compétitions sportives internationales, notamment les Jeux olympiques de Tokyo-2020, renvoyés à 2021.

"Le report des Jeux méditerranéens d'Oran est motivé essentiellement par le souci commun de réaménager leur périodicité par rapport au calendrier olympique, de rehausser la qualité des Jeux et leur rayonnement ainsi que de préserver la santé des athlètes d'une part et d'assurer leur préparation optimale à cet important rendez-vous sportif d'autre part", a-t-il précisé.

De son côté, l'Algérien Amar Addadi a salué la décision prise par le gouvernement algérien, soulignant que l'instance méditerranéenne a demandé le report de la 19e édition d'Oran par rapport à la reprogrammation des Jeux olympiques-2020 de Tokyo qui auront lieu en 2021.

"Le CIJM a demandé le report de la 19e édition des Jeux méditerranéens à 2022 pour des raisons qui sont liées essentiellement au calendrier olympique", a-t-il expliqué, précisant que "le Comité d'organisation aura plus de temps pour réunir toutes les conditions et offrir ainsi à l'ensemble des athlètes éditerranéens une édition brillante qui hisse plus haut l'image de l'Algérie".

Le président du CIJM a réitéré l'engagement de son instance à poursuivre et à consolider la coopération à l'effet d'assurer les conditions "optimales" d'un succès "retentissant" des JM d'Oran.

"Les athlètes sont de plus en plus pénalisés par l'arrêt du processus de préparation suite à la fermeture des structures sportives. Je pense que ce report permettra à l'ensemble du mouvement sportif méditerranéen de mieux préparer ce rendez-vous dans les meilleures conditions", a souligné Addadi.

Pour rappel, les Jeux Olympiques de Tokyo, initialement programmés du 24 juillet au 9 août 2020 avant leur report pour cause de coronavirus, auront lieu finalement du 23 juillet au 8 août 2021.
