ATA - '100 villages +'/6 plans on areas of national importance in Alps and coasts

TIRANA, September 10 /ATA/- “The National Agency of Territory Planning remains committed to implementing models of development and preliminary projects obtained from the 100+ village`s academy”.

Director of the National Agency of Territory Planning Adelina Greca made the statement today during analysis of the agency’s performance.

“At the request of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and some municipalities, the National Agency of Territory Planning is engaged in drafting some detailed plans for areas of national importance in the Alps and Seaside. Six plans are in the process of being drafted and a detailed plan for these areas has been approved by the National Territory Council”, said Greca.

According to her, their design and approval paves the way to investments in tourism in areas of priority for development of tourism.

Speaking about the work of this institution, Greca said that, “2019 marks a 5 year intensive work in the field of territorial planning. In 2013, Rama government embarked on the promise of building a planning-oriented culture of territory development. In 2014, the National Agency of Territory Planning in cooperation with other public institutions and with the help of donors started work on drafting the overall national plan of the territory ”.

“In June 2016, this plan was approved by the National Territory Council and the Council of Ministers. This plan should turn into our guiding compass of territory development. One of the National Agency of Territory Planning ongoing missions is to familiarize field actors and public institutions with the national territorial plan and guide its implementation”, said Greca adding that in 2014 the territorial administrative reform was adopted and in 2015 there began its implementation while the old 374 local units were replaced with 61 new municipalities many times larger and more complex.

Greca said that, “The work is underway for establishment of a platform for monitoring implementation of the planning documents. This process is supported by the German Corporation for International Cooperation, GIZ and the platform is in consultation process with central institutions that have similar initiatives, like the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Finances”./k.s/ /a.g/p.s./
