Lisbon, Nov. 28, 2024 (Lusa) - The government will create an exceptional regime that allows construction and urbanisation where it is not possible today, namely on land classified as rustic, with the authorisation of municipal bodies, it announced on Thursday.
The minister for the presidency, António Leitão Amaro, announced at the end of the cabiniet meeting that the government has approved measures to "cut red tape", namely by creating an "exceptional regime that allows, by decision of the municipal bodies, construction, building and urbanisation where it is not possible today".
The land in question is classified as rustic.
According to the government, 70% of this building must be for public housing or moderate values, thus excluding luxury housing.
António Leitão Amaro pointed out that this measure will protect the most sensitive natural values, including the Natura Network (conservation areas for habitats and wild species at risk), agricultural land with greater potential and other risk areas.
